A ship teleporter is a ship module found on most ships, allowing for teleportation of people and objects via the teleportation network. Most ship teleporters are relatively small and unable to teleport masses exceeding 400 lbs. Teleporters are a high power module similar to warp drives or hyperdrives, and will use up almost all of a ship's reserve power to teleport, requiring the ship to recharge before using other high power modules.
Due to the power limitation of a ship, ship teleporters have a fairly short range of around 1,800 Ly. If another teleporter acting as node of the teleporter network is outside of that range, the teleporter will not function.
Most ships have a basic teleportation system equipped that allows them to access the teleporter relay system of a bigger station, and also serve as a beacon that people may teleport to if they are on the ground. Utilizing a basic teleportation device that can be clipped onto their clothes or belt, a user can "beam" up to their ship if it is orbiting the current body that they are on. People may only do this when outside and in direct line of sight to the sky, where their ship's teleportation systems can reach them. In addition, beaming takes a time of approximately 3 seconds to complete as the device deconstructs a person's body (for most people that is; larger persons take longer to beam.) Single teleporter teleportation only has the approximate range of the usual orbital height of a ship.
