Faster than light travel, abbreviated as FTL travel, is any travel faster than the speed of light (classified as the constant 'c'). Actual FTL travel is multiple times the speed of light and is used for easy transportation across planetary systems and even the galaxy. The bulk of FTL Travels is done by ship-bound computing systems, using quantum computers to calculate precise trajectories. All interstellar species have access to FTL technology, whether it be developed on their own or copied from other races, such as in the case of the Floran hordes.
FTL travel in the galaxy is accomplished through the warping of space itself using a warp field drive. Most FTL travel uses a combination of the warp field drive and a hyperdrive to enter hyperspace in order to travel, using the warp field drive to traverse hyperlanes.
