A manifest is a spatial anomaly consisting of an area of non-euclidean space that is shrunk, stretched, or otherwise folded in different ways. A manifest differs from a pocket dimension in that they are not fully 'closed' from standard space, allowing them to typically be entered at will without the use of portals or teleportation, and indeed, many unknowing individuals that stumble across manifests sometimes walk into them unknowingly; though they can still be closed off under certain circumstances.
Manifests can take on a variety of different forms and topologies; some may simply appear as a stretched space that can be walked into, while others may appear as something like a room that is larger on the inside, or even more strange variations. Manifests typically emit low cuils depending on how much space the manifest warps, allowing them to be detected using a cuilometer. Natural manifests can have a variety of different sizes, ranging from very small spaces to the size of entire landmasses.
Metacreative Manifests
It is possible to psionically create manifests using metacreation, creating and manipulating the way space folds in a specific area. Metacreative manifests must typically be maintained occasionally by the psion with an inflow of flux or else they will fade away. The flux cost of creating and sustaining manifests increases the larger the manifest is, and costs less the higher the ECF is. At an ECF of ~20‽, metacreative manifests are nearly permanent. Metacreative manifests can be used in other abilities and can be created to look differently or have different properties depending on the specific ability, such as taking aspects from the psion's headspace. Manifests created on the spot can typically only be small, and have a high flux cost.
