| Characteristics | |
| Wights are unique in that they are biologically alive, kept alive by unnatural psionic forces. Wights always have a biological body and at least partially intact brain, though their body may have been modified by the cirumstances of their death. Despite being resurrected, they are very similar to other defiants in that their minds are drastically altered from their death. In addition, their body still typically has signs of damage or decay. Wights are generally not sapient, but there have been rare exceptions, including one reported instance where a wight retained most of its pre-death memories and personality. | |
| Precautions | |
| Despite having a biological body, wights are very resilient to damage since their defiant will keeps them artificially alive. Destroying the wight's brain works sometimes, but this may not work on stronger wights that may have part of their intellect retained neuroinvasively. Generally however their bodies are susceptible to damage- its generally possible to cut their limbs off or otherwise remove their means of movement and physical attack. If a wight is still not deceased after taking considerable damage, it may require either a cleansing of the body or complete and utter destruction of the biological matter via incineration. Though incredibly rare, an instance has been reported of a wight's post-incineration ash retaining the defiant's will, requiring total cleansing via further incineration with a strongly ionic fuel. | |
| Signs | |
| Wights are among the easiest defiants to detect due to the presence of a physical body. However, this also means they are more noticeable by the public. Proper infosuppression procedures should be put into place when a wight is detected in a public place. Other signs of a wight's presence might include devoured carcasses of both people and animals. | |
Wights are a special type of defiant, mainly created from metamanipulators. Similar to the idea of a "zombie", wights are biologically alive, sustained by unnatural psionic forces after death. While resurrected, their minds are significantly altered from their previous selves, and their bodies often display signs of damage or decay. Generally, wights lack sapience, acting purely on instinct and behavior related to their death.
Wights exhibit distinctive physical characteristics. In appearance, they resemble living beings, often retaining the form they had before their demise. However, their bodies may show signs of injury, decomposition, or alterations resulting from the circumstances of their death. These visible signs of damage can serve as valuable indicators for identifying a wight. Rarely however, a wight may appear eerily lifelike.
Wights behave more physically than other defiant types that are more incorporeal. Despite not requiring sustenance they still act on the instinct of hunger, leading them to often hunt victims or devour wildlife. Wights tend to be solitary, but under certain circumstances, they may form groups or small clusters. These groupings are usually temporary and arise from the proximity of multiple wights or the attraction of a powerful psionic energy source. In such situations, their collective aggression can become even more dangerous, presenting challenges for those tasked with dealing with them. Wights generally roam near their place of death.
Wights possess unique and unnatural biology. Unlike traditional living beings, they do not reproduce, age, or require sustenance to survive. Instead, they are reanimated corpses, sustained by mysterious psionic forces. These forces keep their bodies intact and functioning, although their minds and consciousness are drastically altered, resulting in a lack of true sapience. While wights can be destroyed through various means, they do not experience natural death or decay.
Wights have strong physical abilities due to their physical nature, giving them enhanced strength and uncanny resilience to damage. However, their body can generally still be physically damaged even if it does not dispatch the wight- their means of attack and movement can be severed, rendering them more easily killed through total destruction or cleansing.
