Near the apex of ship sizes that are economically viable to have mobile for a majority of their active life, carriers are designed to function as a mobile fortress from which invasion forces can be launched, with hangar bays dedicated to the storage of a multitude of ships and craft, both sub-atmospheric and interstellar, the arrival of a carrier ship can turn the tide of a battle very quickly with their ability to launch droves of smaller ships and breaching vessels that can tear down the enemy's fleet with precision that larger ships alone cannot accomplish, and that smaller ships without a home-base cannot do with confidence.
While battlecruisers contain infantry, carriers hold the cavalry of the astronautical forces, often a large number of interceptor crafts and even larger. These are often deep-space capable vessels, with electromagnetic shielding and kinetic fields protecting from the harsh environment of interstellar space. Plating at the level of a carrier is equivalent to the dense, layered hulls of a naval fortress in planetary navies, able to defend against ramming heads and hull piercers of boarding vessels with relative proficiency. Weaponry consists of the ships and craft that are kept inside of these hangars, supplemented by large ordnance systems for long-range fire. The smallest crew capable of handling a ship of this caliber would number at 75.
Length: 460-540 m
Height: 300-480 m
Width: 320-430 m
Of these specifications, the longest dimension shall be treated as the ship's 'length', followed by height, and then width.
