A large part of the ability for sapient species to increase production in farming was the eventual automation of the bulk of the process. Technologies for the automation of these processes range from robotic tillers and seeders planting crops, complex irrigation systems making sure they are provided with adequate water and fertilization, and combines harvesting said crops at their maturation. Sorting out crops has also been fully automated through the use of scanners, filtering crops so that only the most premium produce is selected and sent out.
