All articles are formatted with an introductory paragraph that summarizes the subject, a short profile box, and then several elaboration sections, divided by headers, that go into further detail.
Profile boxes vary in formatting depending on the subject. For people, they generally always contain an image, birth information, occupation, years of activity in the public eye, and death information if they are permanently deceased. Examples of extra information can include citizenship and notable work. Death information is generally only included if the person permanently died, or stayed dead for an exceptionally long time; if a person died and was quickly resurrected, death and cloning information does not need to be included unless it is relevant. A template for a biographical article can be found here.
Born |
Birth name Birth date City name, planet name, country name |
Occupation | Occupation name |
Years of activity | xxxx-xxxx |
Died |
Death date (aged x years) City name, planet name, country name |
Elaboration sections often consist of Early Life, Career, and Personal Life, but structure varies depending on the person's occupation and why they are notable. For example, a politician may have a section dedicated to their political positions on various issues, and a general may have a section for each war they fought in.
Articles should be grammatically correct and retain a formal, unbiased tone. Writers should take care to not slander or promote the person or topic they are writing about.
Articles should only contain confirmed factual information, with the exception of well-known public speculation surrounding a subject.
While Nexicon ICly has articles on basically everything, just like real-life wikipedia, currently players can only write articles on subjects that AREN'T already in the lore. It's mostly intended for famous characters, but historical events, art, books, etc are also welcome. Note that biographical Nexpedia articles are NOT character sheets- instead, they are ICly written, ICly viewable encyclopedia articles on well-known Fringe characters. Character sheets, which are typically written OOCly, can be found here.
To write or edit an article about a character, you DON'T have to play that character. Just don't metagame and add information that your character- the one editing the article- couldn't have. It's also fine to write articles on historical figures that would be public knowledge online.
Not all IC citations have to actually link to something OOC. If the source is an onscreen forum post like a Haven Times article, though, or even a hooter post, feel free to link it (links to discord messages can be obtained by right-clicking on a post and selecting "copy message link". For example, here's a hoot confirming the deaths of EBS and Eliza.)
If your character ICly attempts to grief an article or do anything destructive that would quickly be reverted by a site moderator, please just emote it happening in nexus chat instead of actually griefing the article.
