OPEN WHEN YOU ARE READY, INHERITORS.
The Monolith Gate is a large sealed archway found within the Ark, an Ancient world accessible only via teleporter. It is approximately 50 feet in height and constructed out of Ancient stone, cracked in some places. It features reliefs of Ancient runes and depictions of the Ruin. The center of the Gate contains a carving of the Ortus, a symbol commonly seen in other Ancient works and ruins, as well as six different 'slots' set between each ray of the Ortus. The runes on the gate have been translated, and read: "COLLECT THE SIX KEYS AND PLACE THEM HERE TO OPEN THE BLACK HOLE". The specific wording of "black hole" has alarmed various precursor enthusiasts, but precursor linguists commonly believe that the use of the word is figurative, possibly suggesting a "point of no return".
It is revealed in texts describing the Inheritance and from communication made with the High Priestess that the Monolith Gate plays a pivotal role in the Inheritance, requiring the presence of six different precursor artifacts that act as keys before it can be opened. To use an artifact, it is only required to bring the artifact to the Gate; afterwards, the key slot respective to that artifact is permanantly filled in, and the artifact can be taken away. It is unknown what will happen once the Gate actually 'opens'- both of its sides are accessible as the Gate is constructed in an open area, causing many to believe that like some Ancient doorways, it is a portal to some other place.
