Author Note: The details of order are fairly unknown, even moreso than anomaly. Characters that have been in 'Ordo' or observed normantium or trianglium may be aware of its effects.
Observed only in very specific circumstances, order is the opposite of anomaly. Order is measured in cuils, but as a negative value. Negative cuils have been theorized to exist, but only hypothetically, their existence only having been confirmed with the discovery of various sorces of order like normantium and trianglium. If positive cuils are the measure of the entropy of reality, then negative cuils are the measure of the order of reality: the force of reality greater than even itself.
Order is fairly understudied, even more so than anomaly. Order has been observed to 'cancel out' anomalous phenomena such as certain anomalies and psionics. Because of this property of destroying and preventing the creation of anomalies, order can theoretically be used to combat against forces of anomaly, if it can be harnessed. So far the only sources of order have been found in bizarre materials found only in precursor ruins, and the subdimension 'Ordo'.
Like anomaly-induced sickness, exposure to order can also cause sickness of sorts, which have been scientifically verified and studied by the Ren Ikeda Hospital in the Haven Federation thanks to the sacrifice of a woman named Lillian Skye, who exposed herself to order. Lillian experienced the full range of effects order has on organic bodies, serving as a warning to what could happen. Lillian underwent medically assisted suicide after the ordeal.
At minor exposure, blood begins to crystallize as the negative cuils causes complex organic molecules to take more crystalline patterns. If minor, causes severe low blood pressure and prevents wounds from clotting, in addition to bruising around the body. If major, it can cause heart attacks, stroke, and even fatal cardiac arrest. Long-term exposure can cause anemia. At more exposure, a thin layer of the vitreus humour of ones eye begins to crystallize, causing vision to be blurred; more “floaters” appear. At severe exposure, brain cell neuron firing is disrupted from the effects of order on electricity, causing frequent seizures. Other areas of the body begin to lose feeling as nerve damage takes place, only repairable by nerve regeneration. Then, brain death occurs.
The mental effects of order sickness are equally as severe. At minor exposure, it induces a feeling of calmness and apathy, even when such feelings are inappropriate. Long-term exposure can cause order-induced prosopagnosia, making the sufferer unable to recognize individual faces; everybody appears the same. Then, visualization is affected by order-induced aphantasia, causing people to be unable to visualize complex imagery as time goes on. Then, order causes permanent order-induced schizoid disorder, causing people to lose a majority of their emotional capacity. Finally, at severe exposure (assuming the sufferer simply hasn't died yet), the consciousness dies off, leaving the body alive without any complex thought, essentially a comatose state while motor functions remain. This carries on until the physical effects of order kills the user, or until they die of starvation or thirst. Inorganic beings become a mindless robot, reverting to the very basis of their programming and being incapable of any complex thought.
Order seems to have significantly less effects on inorganics than it does on organics. Effects on inorganic are largely minor physical effects at first, but inorganics can also begin to suffer mental effects of order at much more severe exposure than organics do. strong AI are affected more than weak AI.
