The wasteland planet of Schelor is known affectionately as the “shithole of the Fringe”, and for good reason. It is extreme, having burning hot days and freezing cold nights - it is dangerous, with roaming Deadbeat raiders and dangerous animals - it is toxic, with areas of dangerous radiation and nuclear craters, pools of acid and poison in some places. It is widely considered by many to be one of the most dangerous planets in the Fringe that’s inhabited. The water that is on the planet is often irradiated or stagnant, making water a valuable commodity.
In a northern region in Schelor, there exists a wasteland of brass drifting among sifting ash and war-fanned flames. In the Brass Wastes, brass shell casings litter the ground all over from hundreds of years of the collective work of the Cult of the Murder Cube, making it a holy ground and home of the entire cult, blessed by the fires of Nex Alea. It is considered to be one of the more dangerous parts of Schelor due to the cult’s highly aggressive stance on outsiders trespassing on holy ground, and the cult’s incredible amount of arms. It is also home to the Ammosoleum and the original Murder Cube that only the most respected gun priests may touch, as well as a portal leading to the Djarus layer of the Undercrypt. The Smoldering Brass Wastes are shrouded in mystery; some claim to have seen walking beings of scrap, or swirling whirlwinds of entities made entirely of brass casings; even the furthest depths of the Ammosoleum are a mystery, only the most high ranking of Gun Priests permitted within the deeper depths.
In certain places in Schelor, there are zones of radiation so high that even Deadbeats cannot survive in them. These rad zones are often found in ground zeroes of nuclear blasts and terminating zones of wind currents that carry fallout. The ecosystem of these zones are different than other places in Schelor, containing life that thrives off acidic and radioactive conditions, such as dangerous gamma-emitting phase matter beings known as ‘Raderrants’ that bullets are totally ineffective against. There are some Deadbeats that are capable of surviving and even thriving in these zones; these Deadbeats are known to others as ‘Muties’, large, stupid mutants that have gone feral from the large amount of mutations caused by the radiation. Tribes of these mutants roam the Rad Zones and surrounding areas, making them very dangerous to venture into.
It is well known that the Scheloran desert is bright from the scorching sun; however, in some places, smoke and ash from raging fires and volcanic fumes collects in depressions or valleys, resulting in entire areas hundreds of miles in area where the sun shines little. Smog wells are one of the very few places in Schelor where it can rain, but the rain is often sulfuric and acidic, though some people with the right equipment are able to filter it and sell the water as a highly desired commodity, passing water out on trains that run through the ruins of Siren’s Call here in exchange for bartered goods, controlled by warlords that rule over the water economy. Storms are also prevalent in smog wells.
In other areas of Schelor, often near larger cities, there exist vast fields of nothing but junk, trash, and rusted scrap. One can often find dumpster divers and scrappers venturing through the scrapyards of Schelor, hoping to find material to sell or build with.
Not much to say here. They’re minefields. Be careful.
In the poles of Schelor, radioactive, frozen tundras span across the land, dead and barren. The temperatures here can reach -50 C, or -53 F, making survival here an incredibly difficult task.
